Knitted with 3 strands of metallic crochet cotton and the smallest
keyplate. I used keyplate 10 on the KnitSmart machine, that would be keyplate
1 on the Bond. This star is about 6" in diameter and is knitted very much
like the round baby blanket using the holding position. I added one row of single
crochet around the outside edge.
Cast on 13 sts with waste yarn, knit several rows. Begin main
yarn.
Row 1: COL Knit 13 stitches.
Row 2: COR Put all but two stitches in holding position, knit
the 2 stitches.
Row 3: COL Transfer the stitch furthest from the carriage, stitch
13, to needle 12. Put empty needle in nonworking position. Wrap yarn around
next needle in holding position, knit the stitch = 12 stitches remain.
Row 4: COR Push first needle in holding position (the one that
is wrapped) to forward working position, knit the 2 stitches.
Row 5: COL Tranfer stitch furthest from carriage to next needle.
Put now empty needle into nonworking position. Wrap yarn around next needle
in holding position, knit the stitch = 11 stitches remain.
Row 6: COR Push first needle in holding position (the one that
is wrapped) to forward working position, knit the 2 stitches.
Row 7: COL Transfer stitch furthest from carriage to next needle.
Put now empty needle into nonworking position. Wrap yarn around next needle
in holding position, knit the stitch = 10 stitches remain.
Row 8: COR Push first needle in holding position (the one that
is wrapped) to forward working position, knit the 2 stitches.
Row 9: COL Transfer stitch furthest from carriage to next needle.
Put empty needle into nonworking position. Wrap yarn around next needle in holding
position, knit the stitch = 9 stitches remain.
Row 10: COR Push first needle in holding position (the one that
is wrapped) to forward working position, knit the 2 stitches.
Row 11: COL Transfer stitch furthest from carriage to next needle.
Put empty needle into nonworking position. Wrap yarn around next needle in holding
position, knit the stitch = 8 stitches remain.
Row 12: COR Push first needle in holding position (the one that
is wrapped) to forward working position, knit the 2 stitches.
Row 13: COL Wrap yarn around next needle in holding position.
Transfer stitch furthest from the carriage in working position one needle to
the right. Fill the now empty needle with purl bump from row below of stitch
just transferred, knit the 3 stitches = 9 stitches.
Row 14: COR Push first needle in holding position (the one that
is wrapped) to forward working position, knit.
Row 15: COL Wrap yarn around next needle in holding position.
Transfer stitch furthest from the carriage in working position one needle to
the right. Fill the now empty needle with purl bump from row below of stitch
just transferred, knit the 5 stitches = 10 stitches
Row 16: COR Push first needle in holding position (the one that
is wrapped) to forward working position, knit.
Row 17: COL Wrap yarn around next needle in holding position.
Transfer stitch furthest from the carriage in working position one needle to

Row 18: COR Push first needle in holding position (the one that
is wrapped) to forward working position, knit.
Row 19: COL Wrap yarn around next needle in holding position.
Transfer stitch furthest from the carriage in working position one needle to
the right. Fill the now empty needle with purl bump from row below of stitch
just transferred, knit the 9 stitches = 12 stitches.
Row 20: COR Push first needle in holding position (the one that
is wrapped) to forward working position, knit.
Row 21: COL Wrap yarn around next needle in holding position.
Transfer stitch furthest from the carriage in working position one needle to
the right. Fill the now empty needle with purl bump from row below of stitch
just transferred, knit the 11 stitches = 13 sts
Row 22: COR Push first needle in holding position (the one that
is wrapped) to forward working position, knit. Push last needle that is in holding
position, back to forward working position before knitting back.
Repeat Row 1 through 22 five more times. Knit several more rows
with waste yarn. Remove from machine. Join both sides with Kitchener Stitch,
picture below.
The same pattern could be knitted with a heavier yarn and a larger
keyplate.
